Isn’t it great the curveballs life throws at you? Things seem to be going okay, and then BAM! Life decides it wants to put a wrench in your virtual bike spokes and send you tumbling.
For me, it was over this last week or so when I got my positive coronavirus test back. I originally had planned to take a week off from work between 24 – 31 Dec, but that got altered abruptly. I’m now in that week away from work I planned for the end of the year. I told them that I don’t need to take that week of vacation now, as I kinda got sucked into a different week against my will.
I was hoping to do some baking over that Christmas week—different kinds of cookies, cupcakes, etc. Looks like the joke’s on me, as over this last week of isolation/quarantine, I haven’t had the desire to do much of anything. In fact, right now, I have a headache coming on, and my tinnitus is running overdrive right now. It’s hard to hear out of one ear, so the other one is having to compensate, and when I try to listen to music, it sounds like one speaker of my headphones is not working. When I switch ears, I hear that both are functioning. I don’t know if it has to do with my sinuses, allergies, or an infection coming on, I just know it’s a huge pain in the ass not being able to hear properly. With one earbud just in my left ear (that’s the bothersome one), I can hear faintly; however, in conversation I have to be facing the person or with my right ear turned to them. Most normal talk sounds like a bunch of mumbles, otherwise.
So, yeah, quarantine is making me lazy. It’s nice that I don’t have to get up early to take my youngest son to school until after the Christmas break, but I’ve been staying in bed until 10:00, 11:00, even nearly noon on some days. Before all this corona bullshit, I was originally scheduled to work open shift at 06:00 this past Tuesday. I’m hoping that once I am back to working my (hopefully) 40 hours a week, I can get back into my routine. I’ve never really been a morning person, as I always found it easier to stay up all night than to wake up before the Sun. Within the last couple of months, I’ve kinda been forced to be up early every day, either with my work schedule or taking my son to school when I wasn’t working. Much as I don’t like being up early, getting off work earlier in the day was kinda nice, although by 21:00, I’d be trying to doze off like an old man👴🤭. At this point, being stuck at home all the time (and honestly, the lack of a paycheck) is giving me a case of cabin fever, and for someone as introverted as myself (I’ll use the self-checkout at the store to avoid talking to people as much as possible), that’s really saying something.
Now, here is the quote of the day:
