Today is the 203rd day of the year. I think everyone would agree that it has been 203 strange days of what feels like hell on earth.
Today I finally have some decent home WiFi. After a rough day at work, it was nice to come home to a decent internet signal, and I don’t have to depend on mobile data and my phone’s hotspot to be able to upload my posts now. Granted, I don’t have TV at the moment, but I really haven’t watched any in at least the last 6–12 months. I’ve been watching YouTube videos for the most part.
I just realized that today marks 6 years that I’ve been employed at Cracker Barrel. I was originally hired on there on 21 July 2014. I’m not sure how I’ve lasted that long there, but I enjoy working there. I started out as a dishwasher, then cross-trained into the other back-of-house positions. Now, most everyone puts me among the top three grill cooks there. Sometimes I look back to when I started, how everything was new and confusing for me. I think about all the mistakes I’ve made (and still make🤭), and the myriad of questions I used to ask. I’m pretty sure there were some dumb questions and stupid mistakes in the last five years I’ve been a grill cook. At least I’m not the only one who screws things up. Some of the others who have been there longer than me still have their share of mistakes. And next week, I’m back working full-time. I was told they’re scheduling me as many hours as they’re allowed to, since corporate frowns on overtime. Am I that big an asset to the kitchen that people express how much I’m missed when I’m not working🤔?
